Matt McMullen’s Quest: The First Artificially Intelligent Sex Doll

Matt McMullen is something of a celebrity in sex doll circles.  His creations have been prominently featured in several movies, most notably Lars and the Real Girl.  An artist by trade, McMullen was always fascinated by the human form, originally creating sculptures and posable mannequins which he’d photo and post to his AOL home page.

Struck by the realism of his creations, a collection of viewers inquired as to the possibility of putting his talents to a more unique use.  More importantly, they were willing to fund the venture.

RealDoll was born.

Since then, McMullen has sold over 5,000 life-like dolls at $5000.00 to $10,000.00 each.  Each doll is customized to the customers’ tastes.

With an eye towards an even more immersive experience, McMullen has teamed with a group of humanoid robotics engineers to create the first fully interactive sex doll.  The project, dubbed Realbotix, will initially consist of developing a suitable A.I. which will be installed into a robotic head that can blink, open and close its mouth.

“We’re focusing on ways to incorporate emerging technology with what I’ve already done with the dolls.   The hope is to create something that will actually arouse someone on an emotional intellectual level beyond the physical,” said McMullen.

According to McMullen, the Realbotix head will be available in approximately two years.  The head will be able to fit on existing RealDolls, so you won’t have to repurchase the entire product.  The head will cost around $10,000.00.

The next phase of development will focus on a robotic body, which will retail between $30,000.00 and $60,000.00.
