Want a bigger paycheck? Have sex more than 4 times per week.
Sex is awesome. Not only does it boost health and promote mental fitness, it can be good for the pocketbook too. According to an academic paper, written by Nick Drydakis, a senior lecturer in economics at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, workers who had sex more than 4 times per week earned 5.4% more on average. People who weren’t sexually active earned 3% less than those who were.
The findings were based on a yearlong study involving 7,500 Greek households. The average age of those surveyed was 34.3 years. Survey questions included the amount of sex the participants had each week, their employment status, income, and the amount of hours worked per week.
Why the correlation between more sex and a higher income?
According to Drydakis, sexually active people tend to exhibit all the positive aspects of having sex. People who have sex frequently tend to be happier, healthier and more self-confident. People with these attributes tend to be more productive at work and earn a higher income.
Great! If I have more sex, then I’ll make more money.
Not necessarily. Higher income earners can be deemed more desirable and have more opportunities to engage in sexual activity. The study also showed that sexually active employees suffering from health issues or impairments had an even greater wage increase.
Wage increase returns were the same for heterosexual and homosexual activity.
